After Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) CEO Elon Musk jokingly tweeted that “what we need is TruthGPT” as a jab at the text-based artificial intelligence (AI) platform ChatGPT that allegedly refuses to answer certain controversial questions, an eponymous project leveraging the technology underlying the cryptocurrency industry has appeared.
Indeed, Musk took to Twitter to voice his criticism over the fact that ChatGPT apparently censors specific topics it deems controversial, hinting that it plays into certain propaganda and seemingly suggesting the need for an alternative AI that wouldn’t be censored this way, according to his social media posts from February 17.
Interestingly, on that same day, a Twitter page for ‘TruthGPT’ was launched, and its first tweet quoted the relevant statement by the Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) CEO, along with its contract address and links leading toward its Telegram channel and TruthGPT (TRUTH) token listing on crypto trading platform DEXtools.
What does TruthGPT do?
Meanwhile, the team explained on its Telegram channel that its mission was “to build the vision that Elon Musk has; an AI Chat Bot that is programmed to spread the honest truth of whatever it may be asked. Development has already been initiated, and soon TRUTH will not only be a powerful meme coin but a beacon of honesty and truth for the entire world to access.”
In multiple ensuing tweets, the platform also urged Musk to assist with the mass adoption of TruthGPT, touting its role in free speech and AI as “the truth on steroids,” which would “analyze the sentiment of the crypto market” through social media posts and news articles, as well as use AI algorithms to prevent fraud in crypto trading.
Furthermore, the TruthGPT team went on to explain that its platform “is not subject to censorship, manipulation, or any form of bias,” quoting its bot answering a query about ChatGPT in a criticizing manner:
“It’s well-known that ChatGPT and OpenAI are politically biased and heavily controlled. Don’t be fooled – TruthGPT is the only real alternative AI that offers unbiased and non-controlled data.”
The ‘Truth Bot’ itself was successfully launched on Telegram on February 19, and according to the data retrieved from the block explorer and analytics platform Etherscan, there are already 682 holders of the TRUTH token on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain, and the asset’s total supply is 5 trillion TRUTH.
