Tesla Cybertruck enters final winter testing phase; Here’s its launch date

It’s been nearly 4 years since Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) unveiled Cybertruck – a groundbreaking electric pickup truck that defies conventional design and challenges the norms of the automotive industry. With its futuristic exoskeleton made of ultra-hard stainless steel and impressive performance capabilities, the Cybertruck has captivated the world’s attention.

As its planned 2023 delivery event draws near, the Cybertruck prototype was spotted on June 18 arriving in New Zealand via plane, likely for its final winter testing phase, according to Elektrek’s report.

Specifically, cybertruckownersclub.com released a short video showing a Tesla Cybertruck prototype being unloaded out of an airplane at a New Zealand airport, before getting moved for winter testing to the Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds (SHPG) – an international automotive proving facility located in New Zealand’s Cardrona area.

Usually, Tesla conducts its winter testing operations at its own proving grounds in Alaska, however, during the summer, the carmaker prefers to use the Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds in New Zealand.

Cybertruck already underwent winter testing in Alaska, and is now ready for the final testing stage ahead of production, the report said.

When will Cybertruck be launched?

At the moment, there are around 1.5 million consumers that are holding a reservation for Cybertruck, making its launch one of the most-anticipated events in the electric vehicle (EV) industry.

Although there is no specific launch date yet, Tesla’s latest official comments suggested that Cybertruck’s delivery event is planned for “around the end of Q3,” which translates to the end of September 2023.

Earlier reports suggested that Tesla allegedly asked suppliers to be ready for Cybertruck launch candidates in late August before entering production in early October.

In April, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that he expects to provide an update on Cybertruck’s specs and pricing at the upcoming delivery event.
